WHAT IS DAI KOKORO NO JUTSU?

Historically, meditation and related breathing exercises have been a part of the martial art traditions since the days of the Samurai in medieval Japan where warriors who dealt with life and death everyday embraced the meditation practices of Zen monks to help them calm their mind and body. Many martial arts are often described as moving meditation or mindfulness in motion that requires stilling of the mind while the body is in motion.

Conflict resolution techniques usually begin with first attempting to understand the other person’s point of view.
The martial arts afford a framework for understanding argument as harmonization rather than confrontation.

The tamed mind we develop in Dai Kokoro no Jutsu has the power of concentration we need to understand reality deeply. It is calm and stable. It is awake and intelligent. We can place this mind where we want, for however long we need.

With the focused mind of mindfulness, we can develop the wisdom and correct understanding of reality that frees us from basic ignorance and the suffering it causes. This use of mindfulness to cultivate wisdom is the secret of Dai Kokoro no Jutsu.
